Adoption has always tugged at Katie Nester's heart. After looking into domestic and international adoption last August, Katie and her husband, Tim, felt their hearts beating strongly for overseas orphans. Soon, they chose Ethiopia, one of many countries in need of adoptive parents. "We knew we could love in any color," Katie says. After 8 months of anticipation, the Nesters were matched with Megersa, a precious baby boy.

The Aurora couple was awarded the first Open Hearts for Orphans grant this fall. The OHO grant will help bring home their son, which they hope will be soon. "My husband and I stare at Megersa's picture all day," says Katie.

I too, have Mergersa's picture on my hutch and on my living room "grandbaby table" looking forward to meeting him in person.
